Post-Punk Monk "A twangtastic throwback to the sort of gritty, female country-pop of the late 60s to early 70s that suggested the love child of Nancy Sinatra and Lynn Anderson." about

THE COUNTESS OF FIFE were formed by Fay Fife singer and creative force with The Rezillos and guitarist Allan Mcdowall.

Fay says...
This track is smoother than some of our songs but as always, it's earthy." The lyrics can be described (by some!) as a thinly disguised feminist rant. Fay prefers to think of it as "a witty repost to the narrow identities ascribed to women and also the very daft ideas folk have about singers and musicians".
Yeah Baby! be careful with the THE DRESSING ME UP thing !!!

lyrics

DON'T DRESS ME UP

Long years
And a bitter world
Stand between
Those glory days
But you talk
like you know me
And you just love
Those crazy ways

I confess
Those things
You tell me
Sound like a teenage
Loving cup
But I'm not that woman
That you think so
Don't dress me up

I don't like that thing
You wanna do
I don't need those words
you gotta say
Every thing you do
Gets in my way
Oh baby
You can't get it
Any way you want it baby

Don't dress me up
I'll dress you down
In a brand new car
I'll ride you down

You say stuff
Like it’s something
But there is nothing
There for me
You could turn around
And see me
I could be as sweet
As I can be

But you got your
Face right in there
Well it must have been a ball
But I can't remember
This, or you
At all

I don't like the way
You wanna walk
I don't love the clothes
You wanna wear
We could be talkin straight on
If you dare
Oh baby
You can't have it
Every time you want it baby

Don't dress me up
I'll dress you down
In a brand new car
I'll ride you down

Woah……
Don’t dress me up
I tell you pretty little baby

You gonna miss me baby
You gonna miss me baby
You gonna miss me baby
You gonna miss me baby
You gonna miss me baby
You gonna drive me crazy

Don't dress me up
I'll dress you down
In a brand new car
I'll ride you down

You gonna miss me baby
You gonna miss me baby
You gonna drive me crazy
You gonna miss me baby
You gonna miss me baby
You gonna drive me crazy

Woah…..
Don't dress me up
I tell you pretty little baby
Don't dress me up
